about

Reviews for 'Tundra Vole':

"Found here are super stretched out & unwound sentiments from Tundra Vole, an Australian based musician whose small rodent citing name isn’t nearly as profound as the music behind it. The whole atmosphere backing each and every track found on the self-titled release is about as distinctly driven and sparingly uneased as any Bandcamp release I’ve come across this year. All while not being too overdone at the same time, the album follows through with the tags listed on Bandcamp; cinematic & fleshy. Name your price for the release at the link below."

"...This is Tundra Vole. Teen Daze-ish, Chris unravels a completely different canvas… painting the sky, and the sewers while displaying a comfortable in-between. Sit back, relax, and take the 45 minutes to go through this album; it’s a treat."
- winniecooper.net

"In the elegant world of TUNDRA VOLE, organic textures mingle with fuzzed-out, pulsing electronics; otherwise gentle rhythms bristle under weightless melodies that want to have no end. Tundra Vole's new self-titled CD evokes the sounds of life, macro and micro, pressing invariably towards the nearest open space....

Tundra Vole highjacks our loftier imaginations with 11 percolating instrumental tracks that lift us just above the fray with cinematic ease. This fluid 46-minute collection borrows from influences as broad as Debussy, Phillip Glass, Thomas Newman and Daniel Lanois, transitioning from the restless to the quiet with nary a blink. Equally intriguing are [his] cinema-style cue titles, our favorite being "The Failing Eyes of John Kiszkan Mattered Not." Story at 11."
